Eboe Town

Overview

  • Reserved for enslaved Africans and free Africans of the 1700’s.
  • Name derived from the Igbo African tribe. Other tribes such as the Ashanti and Yoruba also lived there.
  • The area was destroyed by fire on November 9, 1819.
  • Thought to be the cradle of the Creole culture: the language, dancing, food and music.
