Isaiah Morter
Overview
- Born between 1866 and 1867 in British Honduras to African Parents.
- As a youth, Isaiah acquired large tracks of land on which he successfully planted bananas.
- He eventually acquired Caye Chapel where he planted coconuts and became known as the coconut king.
- A great benefactor of Marcus Garvey’s UNIA and Marcus Gavey resided with him on his visit to Belize in 1921.
- Belize’s first black millionaire.
